We have developed through the request of people who own these particular lesser known retriever breeds, who would like to advance their dogs with the support of other like minded people.
We will offer training days that meet the needs of these individual breeds and encourage the training, working and competition of all the breeds listed: Curly Coated Retriever, Irish Water Spaniel, Flat Coated Retriever, Chesapeake Bay Retriever & the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
Our aim is to organise Gundog Working Tests, Working Gundog Certificate Days, training days and any other type of Field events authorised by the Kennel Club.
Our breeds are only in the minority through their numbers & popularity and not classified as such through their ability. These breeds are not as well known and understood by people and that is why we have joined together to set up this Club.
We are extremely passionate about the breeds we represent and our Members are encouraged and expected to health test all breeding stock following the required standard of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme.
The Club also encourages members to breed dogs that are "fit for Purpose". Members should also consider these factors prior to breeding -• Working ability• Temperament• Breed Type and Characteristics• Health Screening• Genetic Diversity (Co-efficient of inbreeding)

Please complete an events form from the download area to register for any training days

Throughout the year we team up with our Retrievers and attend demonstrations and breed appreciation pavilions at various country shows. We set up breed pens in a pavilion that are decorated with breed info and ensure knowledgeable owners are on hand to give the correct advice and information on their individual breeds ensuring the public can be correctly educated on our unique working gundogs & how we train them for the sport they where bred for.
We are an all encompassing club and invite Spaniels, HPR'S & Setters to these events where appropriate.

We Welcome new members to the working Minority Retriever Club. As a Club we particularly welcome and actively assist, novice Handlers, young handlers & those wanting to have ago at gundog training with their dog & are finding it difficult to know where to start. We encourage our members to participate in all our events whilst they start their gundog training journey with us.
We are solely a gundog club dedicated to educating the public at the events we attend on how we train & work our dogs, whether it is for fun gundog competitions or KC rule tests, working on the shooting field.
We welcome those who would like to enrich their dogs life by training them in a sport they are naturally bred for, with out the pressure of having to enter tests & competitions, but to enjoy participating in gundog demonstrations & or helping at events with the club.
Any questions or for more information please feel free to contact one of our committee members, via the contact section below, we will be happy to assist you!
